Remodeling No One Said It Would Be Good

I have blogged about our little 1950’s Bungalow in the Ft Lauderdale domain of South Florida. The single we were going to flip but I just fell in love with. Got through the Terrazzo lasts discovered and restored. Loved it! Told you about my research for the to the lowest degree pricey marble that I can locate for my small rate recent kitchen. Cleaning Marble Floors arrived to my rescue with that also.

I last said “now on to the Lanai!” Just a fancy news for patio it looks, but I love the news and how it rolls off your tongue! So tropical a news Lanai! Sad thing is it was painted and cracked Concrete with a totally plenty of cracking and chipping going on. No I wasn’t miraculous to have anything appealing out there, and with this little Bungalow, an out door room is so necessitated, specially for the days like nowadays, where I am riding out and doing this blog…on my Lanai!

So off I go searching on Google ( the prime thing since fit, browsers I reckon) to locate out what we could do about this and what a Lanai shall look like? Which as I locate out just process Roofed patio or a city in Hawaii, but I yet love the phrase! Nice breeze with a roof finished my top and cracked concrete, painted this hideous colour! What to do?

After seeing at numerous pics of dissimilar designs applying dissimilar flooring material. It arrived to me. The roof is in fine condition, the poles are a bit ugly, however my husband could modify that well and Colonial also makes concrete work. After searching the world wide web, I saw a picture of the what I would love MY Lanai to look like this (without the pool in the backdrop sadly to say) .

Observe the concrete floor, the colour and texture? Well I did, right outside so I identified my friend at Colonial (yes we have come to experience each last healthy) and dispatch him this picture, and he said,” yea we likely could do that to your concrete”. He arrived right finished the after that calendar day to talk about it.

Again I was in amazement that this can be over to old concrete. I known newly poured concrete can be colored and stamped, but never thinking that it can be colored and designed after so numerous years and in such terrible condition! Now do not forget this is cracked and chipped ugly, paint coming off it, weeds developing out of the crack concrete I have. But! It has a fine roof finished it. So a good deal can be designed from this, and now with the way decorative concrete is finished. I can go with what this expression like this picture, the Loft look, various imperfections, but beautified by filling in the cracks and chips, grinding it down to what is identified the “freshest layer” and then possessing a “acid stain” set on it in the colour of my picking out. I am stated this stain will react to my personal old concrete’s distinctive composition and the acid stain (water dependent also..got to reckon of the Eco element here.) reacts chemically to give it that varigated look of this picture. A densifier can be gave to strengthen the old concrete! I needed plain and good and shine. Transition from indoors to out doors.

I took all hypotheses to my husband for a conclusion to be finished. After significant period ( about ten minutes). He said as always ” lets do what eternally you reckon is best” as he conceeded that the roof was in fine condition and wherefore split up up concrete that could be salvaged.

So I am receiving my rustic, acid stain, polished concrete over shortly. And after the concrete is finished. The planning will begin, and in a few tiny weeks I will finally have my Lanai. Oh I yet love that phrase!
